Geography

The terrain of Bình Thuận is characterized by low mountains, hills, and narrow coastal plains. The landscape transitions from northeast to southwest, comprising approximately 18.22% beaches and sand dunes, 9.43% alluvial deltas, 31.65% hills, and 40.7% low mountains. The province boasts a 192 km long coastline, stretching from Đá Chét Cape adjacent to Cà Ná in Ninh Thuận province to Bình Châu mudflat in Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu province. 

Climate

Situated in a tropical equatorial monsoon climate, Bình Thuận experiences abundant sunshine and wind, with no distinct winter season.

The climate is divided into two distinct seasons: the rainy season from May to October and the dry season from November to April.

Rainfall is concentrated mainly between August and October, resulting in an extended dry period for the remainder of the year. 

Transportation

Bình Thuận's strategic location along National Highway 1A facilitates connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City and other central provinces. The province's transportation infrastructure supports both economic activities and tourism, with ongoing developments to enhance accessibility. Phú Quý Island, located about 100 km southeast of Phan Thiết, is accessible by ferry services, with travel times ranging from 2.5 to 4 hours depending on sea conditions. 

People

As of 2024, Bình Thuận has a population of approximately 1,766,200 people. The province is home to 34 ethnic groups, with the Kinh majority followed by communities of Chăm, Hoa, Cơ Ho, and Ra Glai. Urbanization has been notable, with significant population concentrations in Phan Thiết City and other urban centers. 

Culture

Bình Thuận possesses a rich cultural heritage, notably influenced by the Chăm civilization. Historical sites such as the Po Sah Inư Towers and the Po Klong Moh Nai Temple reflect the ancient Chăm architecture and cultural significance. The province also preserves over 100 rare Chăm royal artifacts, including crowns and royal attire, maintained by descendants of the Chăm royal family. 

Tourism

In 2024, Bình Thuận welcomed over 9.6 million visitors, drawn by its scenic landscapes and cultural sites. Popular destinations include Mũi Né Beach, known for its sand dunes and water sports, and Phú Quý Island, which offers pristine beaches and a tranquil environment. The province also hosted the "Bình Thuận Tourism Week 2024" from October 24 to 27, showcasing its tourism potential and cultural attractions.
